Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday disclosed that he had been diagnosed with an early-stage prostate cancer but said the condition was detected in time, treated successfully, and has now been completely resolved.In a detailed public statement after his annual medical report, Netanyahu said he had deliberately delayed the report’s release by two months to avoid it coinciding with the peak of the ongoing Israel-US-Iran conflict, citing concerns that adversaries could exploit the information for “false propaganda”.“Thank God, I am healthy. I am in excellent physical condition,” he said, while acknowledging that a “minor medical issue” involving the prostate had emerged during routine monitoring.According to Netanyahu, doctors detected a tiny malignant spot measuring less than a centimetre, which was confirmed to be at a very early stage with no signs of spread or metastasis. Medical experts presented him with the option of continued monitoring or immediate intervention.“You already know me. When I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately — on the national level and also on the personal level,” he said, explaining his decision to undergo treatment.The Prime Minister said he opted for targeted therapy, which successfully eliminated the tumour. “I went to a few short treatments, read a book, and continued working. The spot disappeared completely,” he added.Netanyahu also thanked medical teams at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem for their care, calling them “wonderful”.In a broader message to the public, he urged citizens to prioritise regular health check-ups and follow medical advice, stressing that early detection remains critical.The disclosure comes at a sensitive time for Israel, with Netanyahu continuing to lead the country through an intense security and political phase in west Asia.
