Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Tuesday that the Netherlands has assured his government of importing roses from the state.Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Mann, while giving details of his recent visit to the Netherlands and Finland along with Power Minister Sanjeev Arora and Education Minister Harjot Bains, said, “Currently, the Netherlands was importing roses big time from Ethiopia. We showed them we had very good breeds and much reasonable prices. So, we can definitely make the difference.”The Chief Minister said during interaction with the universities, diaspora and industries in these two countries, the biggest discovery was that no one from Punjab had so far tried to establish any contact with them. “There are big business possibilities, particularly in the field of horticulture, which we will definitely ex. These are very practical and profitable alternatives to the traditional wheat-paddy cycle of Punjab, which is destroying its land,” he said.Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the fourth batch of primary teachers from Punjab would be visiting the University of Turku in May. He also said that Punjabi University very shortly would be submitting a report on the impact of the education in Turku impacting teachers and students in Punjab.Minister Sanjeev Arora said, “Industrialists contacted for the first time ever by the state government have discovered different avenues in which they can invest. Many among them have already committed investments”.Even as the press conference started nearly two hours after the scheduled time, CM Mann said he would compensate answering all probing questions on the state affairs and politics on Wednesday.
