GREG RUSEDSKI slammed Paul Scholes in a scathing rant – then challenged him to a game of tennis.

The former British No1 even hit out at the ex-Manchester United midfielder’s take as the “biggest load of rubbish in my life”.

Scholes, 51, ruffled his feathers during an episode of The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast with co-hosts Paddy McGuinness and Nicky Butt.

During the show, he claimed football is a more physically demanding sport than tennis.

Scholes – who played 718 times for the Red Devils between 1994 and 2013 – moaned about tennis: “Every two minutes you go and have your nice little glass of orange juice.

“You can play it when you’re 50, tennis. Play it when you’re 70, tennis.”

Then he added: “Football is much more demanding than tennis.”

But Rusedski was having none of it.

The Canada-born tennis star, winner of 15 career titles and former world No4, fired back in a brutal response.

And now he wants Scholes to walk the walk after talking the talk.

Rusedski, 52, told talkSPORT: “You can’t compare football to tennis. There’s no question about it.

“I was watching Paul Scholes saying, ‘Oh, football’s so much harder than tennis.’

“I’ve never heard a bigger load of rubbish in my life.

“Come on, Scholesy, let’s go play some tennis and see how long you can last out there.

“Having to move directions, no substitutions.

“There is no question, physically, tennis is much more demanding.

“With the travel schedule, with competing, with having to support and fund your own team.

“There are so many more things that make tennis a much more difficult sport.”
