Akal Takht former Jathedar and SAD (Punar Surjit) chief Giani Harpreet Singh on Thursday said they were not “begging for an alliance” ahead of the state Assembly poll, amid speculations suggesting behind-the-scene talks with the BJP.He, however, did not, deny the possibility of a tie-up with the BJP.The remarks came as BJP national president Nitin Nabin said his party would go solo in the state poll.Giani Harpreet Singh made the remarks at a press conference, during which his outfit launched a vision document. Party members Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Iqbal Singh Jhunda, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Sucha Singh Chottepur and Bibi Jagir Kaur were present on the occasion.Criticising ruling AAP over the arrest of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, Giani Harpreet said it was unfortunate that an elected representatives who won the Lok Sabha election with a massive margin of over 4 lakh votes had been detained on “frivolous allegations”.Commenting on the release of controversial web series “Lawrence of Punjab”, he said any content, be it film or web series, glorifying violence, creating strife and hurt the sentiments of a particular section of society should not be released in larger public interest.Jhunda said in the vision document, they had made it clear their president would not content elections.
