A 28-year-old Pakistani TikTok creator with more than 1.3 million followers was shot dead in Taxila near Islamabad on August 14, with her family alleging that she had received death threats linked to a financial dispute.Shamso Bibi, who was known online as Ayesha Gilamana, was travelling with her sister and brother when two men on a motorcycle allegedly intercepted their car and opened fire. Bibi was struck by a bullet in the neck and died from her injuries. The incident took place on Pakistan’s Independence Day.Police have arrested at least four suspects in connection with the killing, according to media reports. Two of those arrested are accused of helping the alleged gunman flee after the shooting. The authenticity and full circumstances depicted in the footage have not been independently established.Family alleges death threats over money disputeIn his complaint, Sahibzada said his daughter had been making TikTok videos for about three to four years and had built a large following on the platform.The family has alleged that Bibi had been receiving threats from two men over a dispute involving money.
