Panjab University will hold the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council elections on August 31, according to the schedule announced by the university on Thursday.As per the election schedule, filing of nominations will begin on August 24 from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, followed by scrutiny from 10.35 am. The list of candidates will be displayed on the notice board of the concerned department at noon, while objections can be filed between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm.Candidates will be allowed to submit the provisional list and objections to the Dean Student Welfare (DSW) office by 2.30 pm.On August 25, the list of approved candidates will be displayed at 10 am, followed by the withdrawal of nominations from 10.30 am to noon. The final list of candidates will be displayed at the DSW office at 2.30 pm.Voting will be held on August 31 from 9.30 am, followed by counting from 12.30 pm. The results of Department Representatives will be sent to the DSW office on September 8, while elections to elect the Executive will be held on September 11.Panjab University authorities had earlier proposed holding the elections in the first week of September. However, the proposal was cancelled due to the unavailability of police personnel, who were scheduled to maintain law and order during a planned protest.The university later proposed August 31 as the election date, which was approved by the UT Administration.
