Patiala Police on Tuesday said they have busted a pro-Khalistan terror module and arrested four ‘highly radicalised’ men with a cache of militant hardware, including a hand grenade and two pistols. Addressing a press briefing, DIG Patiala Range Kuldeep Chahal and SSP Patiala Varun Sharma said the module was responsible for a late-night attempted detonation on a railway track near Shambu. The arrested men were identified as Pardeep Singh Khalsa of Mansa, Kulwinder Singh of Bappiana village, Mansa, Satnam Singh of Tarn Taran and Gurpreet Singh of Goindwal bypass, Tarn Taran. Police said all four have multiple heinous cases registered against them.“Pardeep Singh Khalsa was the main kingpin. He was in close proximity with a Malaysia-based pro-Khalistan terrorist and in contact with Pakistan-based arms suppliers,” Chahal said.According to police, Khalsa used to send radicalised youth to Malaysia for terror training and then assign them with tasks of terror activities. He had also formed a radical outfit named Chalda Vaheer Chakarwarti, Attariye, the DIG added.Recoveries include a hand grenade, two .30 bore pistols with ammunition, technically sophisticated communication devices meant for further detonations, and laptops used to communicate with handlers in Malaysia and arms suppliers in Pakistan.“They were planning further attacks on public infrastructure and properties,” SSP Varun Sharma said.
