Jagroop Singh, 35, who died while allegedly detonating an explosive on a railway track near Bothonia village between Shambu and Rajpura, hailed from Panjwar village in Tarn Taran, according to media reports.Jagroop was a supporter of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh and had campaigned for him during the elections.Earlier clean-shaven, he later began following Sikh practices and identified as a Nihang Singh.Married with two daughters, Jagroop had also worked in Dubai for some time. His younger brother, Satnam Singh, who runs a flour mill, has been detained by police. Police carried out a search at their house in the early hours.Village residents said Jagroop had no criminal record and was never involved in any controversy.Speaking to reporters, Jagroop’s mother said her son left home on Monday evening. “Before leaving, he said, ‘assi jaan deni hai rabb nu’ — I am giving my life to God,” she said. She added that police picked up her younger son Satnam on Tuesday morning.“I want my younger son back. He has no involvement in anything and was quietly running the flour mill. Both Jagroop and Satnam have two daughters each. It was Satnam who was looking after the family while Jagroop was a devout follower of Dal Panth.”
