Paul Pogba, 33, ‘set to have Monaco contract terminated’ after injury-hit return to football following doping ban

MONACO are reportedly in talks to terminate Paul Pogba’s contract.

The former Manchester United midfielder, 33, was given the chance to resurrect his career in the Principality last summer after serving a doping ban.

But he has played just 115 minutes of football across six appearances.

And now, according to The Athletic, Pogba and Monaco are thrashing out the terms of a deal that will see them part ways immediately.

Pogba still has a year left to run on his Monaco deal but if the termination goes through he will be free to seek his next club as a free agent.

The 2018 World Cup winner has struggled with fitness and injuries since returning to the professional game last year.

And he suffered a hamstring problem during Monaco’s pre-season tour of England that could now sideline him for several MONTHS.

That is not thought to be the driving force behind the separation talks, however, as negotiations are said to have been rumbling on for several weeks.

Pogba broke down in tears when signing his two-year Monaco deal in 2025.

There was over two years between his final appearance for Juventus and his debut for Monaco, having served part of a four-year doping ban which was reduced to 18 months on appeal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Pogba joined United’s academy from Le Havre in 2009 and made seven first-team appearances before joining Juve on a free.

The Frenchman was an instant hit in Italy and re-signed for United in a whopping £89million deal four years later – a world record at the time.

Pogba netted 39 goals in 226 games during an up-and-down second stint with the Red Devils.

He has only played 18 professional matches since leaving Old Trafford in 2022.
