Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with various stakeholders, including senior officials from his ministry, state governments, National Testing Agency (NTA) and higher education institutions, to review preparedness for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21.NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the agency was working with district-level coordination committees headed by district magistrates, state police departments and intelligence agencies to ensure the re-examination was conducted smoothly.Pradhan said officers designated by the ministry would reach all states to coordinate activities pertaining to the re-examination and report to the NTA DG-headed Command Centre.Pradhan told the designated nodal officers of various state governments and UTs to ensure students received all necessary facilities to enable them to appear for the re-examination in a stress-free environment.School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said students must be provided all necessary facilities, including provision of seating arrangements before the exam and drinking water.Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi emphasised the need for proactive coordination, timely dissemination of instructions and strict compliance with all prescribed protocols.Detailed deliberations were held on the examination preparedness, coordination mechanisms, security protocol, logistical arrangements, grievance redressal mechanisms and adherence to examination guidelines.Meanwhile, the NTA, in a statement, told the candidates that the re-examination would be conducted as scheduled. “Do not get swayed by rumours of postponement or by the noise on social media. Rely only on official communication from the NTA,” it said.
