Prestianni, 20, clashed with the Brazilian during the Champions League clash against Real Madrid in February.

The game was halted for 10 minutes after the Argentine winger was accused of racist abuse.

He denied those allegations but was instead charged with homophobic conduct.

Prestianni openly admitted that he used a homophobic slur and was hit with a six-game ban.

Uefa appealed to Fifa to have his ban extended to their competitions as well.

The proposal has been accepted by the governing body and his suspension will now include the World Cup this summer.

The tournament is set to start on June 11 and will be played across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

This means if Prestianni is called up by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni he will miss the first two fixtures.

Argentina are due to play Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stages.

Prestianni would therefore only be available for the match against Jordon on June 28 and beyond should the team proceed out of the group.

The winger has only earned one cap for his national side which came in a friendly match against Angola in November 2025.

He had been a regular for Benfica this season having featured 39 times in all competitions.

The former Velez Sarsfield prospect has scored three goals and assisted five more this term.
