Ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls, the Punjab Congress has undertaken a major revamp of its organisational structure, appointing nearly 3 lakh party workers across district- and block-level committees.The exercise is part of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, the party’s organisational rebuilding campaign. The 29 District Congress Presidents have already been appointed.PPCC General Secretary (Organisation) Capt Sandeep Sandhu said that after a series of meetings chaired by PPCC chief Amrinder Raja Warring, 51-member District Congress Committees and 31-member Block Congress Committees have been constituted across all 117 Assembly segments, following approval from the All India Congress Committee. The party aims to complete the process by April 30, including the appointment of mandal pradhans.This is the second revamp of the state unit since Warring took over as PPCC chief in April 2022.After the district and block committees are finalised, the AICC is expected to appoint office-bearers for the PPCC. A senior party functionary said the state-level appointments are likely to be completed within the next two months.The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan is part of Rahul Gandhi’s push for a generational shift within the party. Sources said emphasis was placed on maintaining caste and regional balance while selecting “neutral and ideology-driven” district presidents.
