The AAP supporters had yesterday painted graffiti on the cricketer’s residence walls to protest the defection. The sources said the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had extended CRPF cover to the cricketer keeping in view the state’s move and escalation of protests. It is learnt that four Punjab Police gunmen provided to Ashok Mittal, who is among the seven AAP rebel MPs, had also been removed.Balbir Singh Seechewal, the lone AAP Rajya Sabha MP from the state now, continues to have four gunmen from the state police.Meanwhile, the BJP has termed the state action an attempt to pressure the MP. BJP leader Rakesh Rathour said: “Harbhajan is a celebrity and an RS member. Withdrawal of his security cover shows exasperation on the part of AAP. It is an attempt to build pressure on the MP. The state must restore his security cover.”
