Relief finally arrived with a burst of rain and gusty winds across Chandigarh and the Tricity region on Tuesday, bringing an end to the prolonged spell of extreme heat.After nine consecutive days of scorching temperatures, parts of the region woke up to cloudy skies, thunderstorms and intermittent showers. The much-anticipated change in weather brought a noticeable dip in temperatures and offered respite from conditions that had pushed the mercury above 40°C for four straight days.
