Bollywood actor and alumnus of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts, Toshab Bagri, will learn the nuances of English theatre in Italy. Toshab has been selected for the Biennale College Teatro 2026, located in Venice.The university Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha stated that originally from Bawal (Rewari), Toshab has acted in several Bollywood films and web series so far.“Toshab was a student of the 2015 batch acting graduate course at the University. After completing a degree in acting from the university, he enrolled in the Kyoto Filmmaker Laboratory in Japan, where he learned advanced techniques in acting and filmmaking. Since then, Toshab has been associated with the film industry as an actor. He has made his mark in acting in Hindi films like Veda with John Abraham, Unseen for the OTT platform Sony LIV, Adhoora for Amazon, and Tota, Mewat, Anda Gang for Stage,” she added.Dr Gunjan stated that Toshab Bagri has been selected as one of only 12 actors/actresses worldwide to receive theatre training from Hollywood legends at the Biennale College Theatre.Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya stated that this training program has been designed by Oscar-nominated famous actor Willem Dafoe.“Willem Dafoe is also the Artistic Director of the Theatre Department at Biennale College. Selected actors and actresses, including Toshab, will be trained by world-renowned Hollywood faces Willem Dafoe, Evangelia and Mary Rantu, Hollywood actor Simon McBurney, and filmmaker Silvia Costa for theatre, serving as their mentors for four weeks,” he added.Dr Arya mentioned that along with activities conducted by the mentors, these actors would also engage in independent, personal, and collective study to become world-famous.“Additionally, from June 7 to 21, all 12 participants, including Toshab, would also showcase their talent at the 54th International Theatre Festival. Dr Arya stated that for any student to be selected for world-famous English theatre after learning acting at SUPVA is truly a matter of pride. This proves our university students are capable of demonstrating their acting talent not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood,” the VC added.
