There was no escaping the rebuke on the importance of Nato and standing by Ukraine.
And it would not have been a speech from King Charles without a little lecture on the environment, even if some Republicans rolled their eyes at his rhetoric.
The speech had something for everyone, with Democrats particularly liking the history lesson on how our Magna Carta is still used to check American power.
