The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected journalist and former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal’s plea seeking exemption from surrender in the 2013 rape case and directed him to surrender within two weeks.According to PTI, the Supreme Court also listed Tejpal’s appeal against his conviction and 10-year sentence for hearing on September 22.The case relates to allegations of rape made against Tejpal by a former colleague in 2013. The Goa High Court had overturned his earlier acquittal and convicted him, following which he approached the Supreme Court challenging the conviction and sentence.The apex court’s latest direction means Tejpal will have to surrender within two weeks while his appeal remains pending before the court.
