A PARAMEDIC murdered six patients by injecting air into their veins after being driven by an “uncontrollable” urge to kill, it is alleged.
Italian ambulance driver Luca Spada has been branded an “obsessive” serial killer who selected elderly and sick victims as part of a “predatory” plot.

The 28-year-old is accused of murdering 85-year-old Deanna Mambelli, who died on November 25, 2025 while being transported by ambulance.
He is also under investigation over the deaths of five other patients, Mirella Montanari, Francesco Mario Scavone, Edoarda Gasperini, Vincenzo Pesci and Vittorio Benini.

Spada deliberately injected lethal doses of air into elderly and seriously ill patients to inflict fatal embolisms, investigators allege.
The suspect, who denies the allegations, is due to face a trial over Deanna’s death before the Court of Assizes in Forli on October 15.

Prosecutors commissioned a specialist investigative unit of Italy’s Carabinieri military police to examine Spada’s personality.
Its report said he appeared to have acted on an “internal, obsessive and uncontrollable motivational drive”.
He selected elderly and sick victims in a way that was compatible with “predatory and serial” behaviour, the report added.
Spada’s own hospital visits were also examined, including an incident where he was admitted due to an embolism.
Investigators allege he may have deliberately caused himself an embolism as part of an experiment to refine his killing method.
Investigators have also obtained sick photographs and messages allegedly posted by Spada in group chats between late 2024 and early 2025.
The images show him posing with coffins, hearses, exhumations and cremation furnaces.
Colleagues told police about the images after Spada’s arrest in April.

One image posted in February 2025 allegedly showed Spada next to coffins.
The picture was posted alongside the message: “Guys, special offer. They’ve arrived and I don’t know where to put them. If you find someone to sell one to, give me a shout.”
Another showed an open coffin with the caption: “Today is exhumation day.”
Spada was arrested after colleagues raised concerns about a series of suspicious deaths involving patients during or after ambulance journeys.
In Deanna’s case, an autopsy reportedly provided evidence consistent with an embolism caused by an injection.
Cops tapped Spada’s phone and reportedly caught him bragging about the alleged murder.
In the shocking wiretaps, prosecutors say Spada can clearly be heard saying: “These poor old people are suffering too much.
“It’s right that they go before the Good Lord. And anyway, I really enjoyed doing it. In fact, I have to do it again as soon as possible.”
The military report was cited by prosecutor Andrea Marchini while opposing an application for Spada to be released from prison into house arrest.
Prosecutors said the psychological assessment indicated that the risk of repetition remained high, and the request was rejected.
Spada remains in custody and continues to maintain his innocence.
