It’s quite the fall from grace that faces the historical club, but in truth it has been a decline in the making over the past couple of seasons.
Now they face a HUGE final five games as they bid to retain their status amongst the elite in their country and avoid an unthinkable relegation.
The club in question, you ask?

The big hitters in European competition, last lifting the second tier competition grand prize in the 2022-23 season are in serious trouble in La Liga.
With five games left of their campaign, they find themselves sitting 18th in the table, two points from safety.
They have played one game less than their nearest rivals, but the situation staring them in the face is nothing short of grim for a club that are steeped in history.
Not only have they won the Europa League/UEFA Cup a record seven times – they also won it THREE times on the bounce.

In recent times they’ve also backed that up with domestic cup success in the Copa Del Rey while also adding a UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup all in the last 20 years.
They’ve also in years gone boasted a successful trading model.
Notably the likes Sergio Ramos just to name one from a host of big names.
A host of outings in the Champions League to add to that rich history of big European nights under the lights has graced the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan over the recent history.
However, the situation they find themselves in is a million miles away from those heights.
And it could end in a relegation to Spain’s second tier.
In truth, Sevilla have been playing with fire and on the decline for quite a few years now.
Last term they held onto their La Liga status by one point and one place after a 17th finish.
The year before that was 14th but on a similar points total and the season prior was 12th.

It’s a steady slip down the rankings since finishing in the top four – just three points off second spot in the 2021-22 campaign.
It’s now a do-or-die scenario for Sevilla if they want to keep mixing it with the big guns.
It all starts with a home encounter with Real Sociedad on Monday night before four huge matches with Espanyol, Villarreal, Real Madrid and Celta Vigo.
Recent results don’t make for hopeful reading with just one win in the last six – including defeats to fellow strugglers Oviedo and Levante on the road.
It’s now or never for Sevilla with the eyes of the world watching on.
They only have to look to these shores to see what has happened with Leicester City and the current situation facing Tottenham…
