Sewa Kendra employees on Wednesday held protests outside DC offices across Punjab, demanding permanent appointment and revision in salaries.Their protest was supported by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a umbrella body of the farm organisations.The indefinite protest by Sewa Kendra employees had started on May 26, crippling a range of government and administrative services being provided by the centres.Currently, around 1,800 Sewa Kendra employees are on strike.The union announced that a big demonstration would be held on June 6 in Jattvibeam, the hometown of Revenue Minister Aman Arora.The union leaders alleged that making new recruitments during the strike was a clear violation of Sections 25-T and 25-U of the Industrial Disputes Act 1947.They said after “exploiting” old experienced employees, the government was now preparing to “exploit” the youth by making new recruitments, which won’t be tolerated.
