ZOOMING through the Greater Manchester high school gates in her sleek Audi A1, Rebecca Joynes went against every stereotype of a typical maths teacher – she was young, cool, and very glamorous.
Nicknamed “Bunda Becky” behind her back by teenage lads referencing her figure, the 32-year-old former gymnast was trusted by parents to educate and safeguard their children – but that trust would be shattered by allegations of filthy sexts, sordid trysts and the most stomach-churning child sex abuse.

Joynes abused her position to launch a predatory campaign of sexual grooming against two 15-year-old boys – even falling pregnant and giving birth to the child of one of her victims while on police bail for abusing the first.
Now, as the disgraced ex-educator serves a six-and-a-half-year prison stretch after her desperate attempts to challenge her conviction were thrown out of court, The Jattvibe examines every shocking twist in one of Britain’s most disturbing female paedophile teacher scandals.
The dark saga began inside Joynes’ classroom, where she began giving extra attention to a 15-year-old pupil known legally as Boy A.
What started as flirty classroom banter quickly escalated when Joynes handed the teen the first ten digits of her phone number and asked him to guess the last one.
The pair soon began exchanging secret messages and Snapchat updates away from the eyes of school staff.
In October 2021, Joynes took her grooming to a disturbing new level.
After Boy A lied to his unsuspecting mum – claiming he was staying over at a friend’s house to play FIFA – Joynes picked him up in her Audi A1 near his home.
She whisked the child away to Manchester’s Trafford Centre, buying him a £345 designer Gucci belt from Selfridges to buy his affection.
CCTV footage showed the teacher happily browsing luxury shops with the boy.
From there Joynes drove the 15-year-old back to her swanky flat in Salford Quays, where they had unprotected sex.
Chillingly, as she undressed in front of the young lad, Joynes warned him: “No one had better find out.”
Laughing Joynes even told the teen to “shut up” when he mentioned his age.
DNA evidence later recovered from her bedsheets by police would ultimately prove her downfall.
Despite begging the boy not to say anything, he sent a photo to pals of the teacher lying down as proof they slept together.
The following day, his “distraught” mum received a call from the school saying an allegation had been made.

When he was confronted, Boy A initially claimed it was just a “stupid conversation” with his mates that got out of control.
But his mum later received another call – this time from the mother of a teen where Boy A claimed he was staying when he was actually with Joynes.
When the furious parent stormed into the school to demand answers, Joynes hit the panic button.
Instead of turning to adults, she drew another 15-year-old pupil, Boy B, into her web of deception.
Breaking down in tears in her classroom, a hysterical Joynes begged the teen: “What do I do?”
Boy B wiped her phone back to factory settings to erase evidence of her flirty texts with Boy A.
Joynes was immediately suspended from her teaching post and arrested by Greater Manchester Police.
Yet even as police officers escorted her back to her flat, she displayed what a judge later branded “breathtaking gall” – claiming her keys were at her parents’ house, omitting the fact she had left them with Boy A to lock up after their night together.
While on strict police bail and suspended from her job, any normal suspect would have kept a low profile.
But Joynes launched into an even more brazen campaign of abuse.
Boy B – who had wiped her phone – added her on Snapchat to check if she was okay.
The pair changed each other’s contact names to hide the illicit connection.
Joynes began sending the 15-year-old explicit messages and a photo of her backside in her underwear.
When Boy B turned 16, the relationship became physical, Joynes lured him to her flat and she straddled and kissed him before taking his virginity.
The pair went on to have sex at least 30 times in “numerous different places”.
Joynes falsely reassured the teen that it was “nearly impossible” for her to get pregnant due to a medical condition.
She was hopelessly lying.
In a series of sickening, obsessive love letters sent to the schoolboy, Joynes lusted over the child, writing: “Every inch of you is perfect. You are all I ever dream about.”

Soon after, Joynes discovered she was pregnant with Boy B’s baby.
The teen went to her flat for “date night” and was presented with pizza, scattered rose petals and an Ann Summers scratchcard of sexual activities.
Joynes then gave him a babygrow that said, “I love my daddy to the moon and back”.
Boy B told the court he reacted by saying: “What the f**k?”
He said Joynes was crying and told him “I don’t know if I can do this on my own”.
The boy told jurors he tried to end the relationship after believing Joynes was “emotionally abusing” him.
The teen added: “I would try and end it and would say ‘you are a f***ing weirdo, you’re a nonce basically, go find someone your own age’.”
He added that he’d spent 18 months of his life “with a paedophile”.
By the time Joynes stood trial at Manchester Crown Court in May 2024, she had given birth to a baby girl.
The infant was taken from Joynes following an emergency court hearing 24 hours after delivery and is now in the care of her teen dad.
The teacher, who clutched a baby bonnet every day in court, tried to portray herself as a lonely, naive woman who had simply fallen in love, claiming Boy B had become “controlling.”
Joynes said: “I was in love with him. I was pregnant with his child.”
But the court heard she was simply a “gaslighter” who was trying to paint herself as the victim.
Prosecutor Philip Allman blew her excuses apart, telling the jury:“You were 29, living in a flat, had a good income, drove an Audi A1. He was a child, you were an adult. He was a pupil, you were a teacher. Who was controlling who?”
The jury took just hours to convict Joynes of six counts of sexual activity with a child, including two counts of abuse of a position of trust.
Joynes burst into tears and shook as the verdict was delivered after nine hours of deliberation.
In July 2024, Judge Kate Cornell jailed the former teacher for six-and-a-half years, tearing into her “breathtaking arrogance” and failure to face up to her crimes.
In a heartbreaking victim impact statement read to the court, Boy B described how the abuse had torn his family apart, stating: “I was coerced, controlled, manipulated, sexually abused, and mentally abused… I will forever be Rebecca’s victim and forever linked to her through our child.”

Detective Constable Beth Alexander slammed public commentary around female abusers, warning: “Women can still be paedophiles; this term is not reserved only for men. Men and boys can still be victims of sexual abuse.”
Following her sentencing, Joynes attempted to launch an appeal to overturn her conviction and reduce her prison sentence.
However, senior judges at the Court of Appeal threw out her legal bid, cementing her six-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
To ensure she can never target vulnerable children again, in January this year a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel banned Joynes from teaching indefinitely, ruling her crimes were of the “utmost severity.”
The disgraced ex-maths teacher remains behind bars – her career destroyed, her freedom stripped, and her name forever etched in UK legal history as one of the country’s most calculating female sex predators.
Sadly she’s not alone.
Just last week PE teacher Bronwen James was found guilty of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy after previously admitting offences against two teenage girls.
Former PE teacher Bronwen James, 30, of Chippenham, Wilts, admitted nine sexual offences against two teen girls – one a pupil at Bitterne Park School in Southampton and the other at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham.
She was convicted earlier at Winchester Crown Court of three counts of sexual activity with a 16-year-old boy who also attended Bitterne Park School.
A jury heard she was living out her “fantasy” and demanded she got called “Miss” as she bedded the schoolboy while watching Wimbledon at a home she shared with her boyfriend.
James will be sentenced at a later date.
