Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap has ordered a magisterial probe into the death of a woman in a shooting incident during a consecration ceremony of a newly constructed temple in Kulgaon village in Chirgaon tehsil.The probe will be carried out by Pankaj Sharma, Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order), who has been designated as the inquiry officer. He has been directed to ensure a fair, comprehensive, and time-bound investigation and submit the report within seven days.The orders have been issued by the DC under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.The inquiry officer has been directed to examine key aspects of the incident, including establishing the sequence of events leading to the firing, confirming the cause of death, fixing responsibility of individuals involved, and investigating any negligence or lapses on the part of the organisers. He will also examine possible violations of provisions under the Arms Act, 1959.The DC has assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty and that necessary steps will be implemented to prevent such incidents in future. The inquiry officer has also been directed to recommend necessary legal and administrative action.
