A Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) delegation carrying four truckloads of relief material has reached Kathmandu to assist families affected by devastating floods in Nepal. The supplies are being distributed in coordination with the local government.The relief material includes generators, solar lights, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, blankets, quilts, sheets, khes, floor mats, utensils, rice, pulses and other essential items.The delegation was sent on the directions of SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and comprises SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, OSD Satbir Singh, secretary Balwinder Singh Kahalwa, additional manager Satnam Singh Jhabal and gurdwara inspector Kashmir Singh.Mannan said the SGPC had consistently undertaken relief and humanitarian work during natural disasters, having provided similar assistance following Nepal’s 2015 natural disaster. Langar services have been continuing for several days in flood-affected areas since the latest disaster.An earlier SGPC delegation visited Nepal and held discussions with the government and local residents to assess requirements. The four trucks of relief material reached Kathmandu on Thursday, with supplies set to be delivered to affected families with local government support.Office-bearers and volunteers of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Satsang, Kathmandu, and Sikh Mission Nepal are playing a key role in relief operations, including gurdwara president Pritam Singh, his son Angad Singh, general secretary Harpal Singh Pali, Darshan Singh, Gurdev Singh, Kulwant Singh and Sikh Mission Nepal in-charge Amarjit Singh.
