South Delhi fire: 5 Bangladeshi nationals among injured, says High Commission

The Bangladesh High Commission here on Wednesday expressed deep condolences over the tragic fire incident in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar that claimed several lives and left many others injured.In a statement, the mission said that five Bangladeshi nationals had so far been identified among the injured. Of them, three are undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Saket, while two others are receiving medical care at Safdarjung Hospital.“The Mission is in constant contact with the authorities and is closely monitoring their condition and well-being,” the statement said.The fire broke out in the morning at a building housing a restaurant and guest accommodation in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar. According to officials, the blaze was reported around 8.50 am, triggering a major rescue operation by the Delhi Fire Service.More than 35 people were rescued from the building and shifted to nearby hospitals, while the death toll rose to over 20. Several of the victims were reported to be foreign nationals. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.Expressing sympathy with the victims and their families, the Bangladesh High Commission conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.The mission also commended the efforts of rescue and emergency response personnel engaged in relief operations following the fire.“Our heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families and sincere sympathy to all those affected by this tragedy,” the statement added.
