It sits on the western end of the Crinan Canal which joins Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura.

The route between the sound and the loch is known as “Britain’s most beautiful short-cut.”

Harbour Island itself is made up of a varied landscape of woodland, shoreline and secluded beaches.

It is home to populations of seals and seabirds and boasts views across the islands of Jura, Scarba and Mull.

The Highland house is 1,000ft from the nearest village with the buyer needing to catch a boat whenever they need some milk or fancy a pint.

Whoever purchases the island will also be getting an award-winning four bedroom house.

Recently renovated, the home was designed by an architect and extends 2,370 sq ft.

Sellers Savills said the property had been carefully designed to maximise light, outlook and a connection to the outdoors.

Savills said the home’s ground floor, “is introduced by an impressive double-height entrance hall, with much of the bedroom accommodation located on this level.”

Going on, the estate agents said the home featured: “A cosy sitting room, additional bathroom, and a large, well-equipped utility and boot room – complete with shower – reflect the practicalities of island living.”

Savills added: “The first floor forms the architectural focal point of the house, with a spectacular open-plan living space.

“Vaulted ceilings, Velux windows and a striking full-height glazed gable draw in natural light and frame uninterrupted views across the Sound of Jura.

“Glazed doors open onto a raised timber deck, ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining, with direct access to a wood-fired hot tub.”

Several outbuildings are also included with the island, including a boathouse workshop and greenhouse.

Access to the coastal haven is through two pontoons at Crinan Harbour with amenities offered by the nearby town of Lochgilphead.

Further north, the town of Oban offers further amenities and connectivity to the Western Isles.

Seller Savills says the property offers complete privacy a short distance from mainland Scotland.

They added that it boasts a rare combination of seclusion and ease of access.
