SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday announced that if his party returned to power in Punjab in 2027, it would reserve 100 per cent of government jobs for Punjabis and bring a law providing life imprisonment for those involved in examination paper leaks.Addressing a students’ protest organised by the Students Organisation of India (SOI) under the ‘Bhavikh Bachao Morcha’ outside Punjabi University in Patiala, Sukhbir accused the AAP government of failing to safeguard the interests of Punjab’s youth.Claiming that nearly half of the government jobs provided during the last four and a half years had gone to outsiders, Sukhbir alleged that the AAP government was using Punjab’s recruitment process to strengthen its political base in neighbouring states. He said, the SAD government after coming to power would enact legislation reserving all government jobs in the state for Punjabis.Targeting the AAP government over repeated examination paper leaks, Badal said 10 recruitment examinations had been compromised, affecting nearly 10 lakh students. He demanded accountability from Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and urged students to launch a mass movement against the state government.Badal said, the SAD government would introduce a stringent law providing life imprisonment for those responsible for leaking examination papers and take measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.He also promised that private industries, including the IT sector, would be required to employ at least 75 per cent Punjabis, warning that companies failing to comply would be denied government incentives, including subsidised power.
