Of course, he wants Barcelona, but the forward’s club Atletico Madrid don’t want to sell him to their LaLiga rivals.
Reports say that the Gunners are waiting on Alvarez to change his mind and give them the thumbs up and are ready to seal a record British transfer.
However, the fact he is back training with Atletico, following a fan fallout, suggests he might stay put.

Enzo Fernandez to Man City
In what could be a British record £140m transfer fee, Man City are still pursuing Chelsea’s out-of-favour Argentinian Enzo Fernandez.
The midfielder was left out of Xabi Alonso’s squad against Brighton – with the Spaniard tight-lipped about the World Cup winner’s future.
City have finally opened talks with the Blues over reuniting Enzos Fernandez and Maresca.
With Chelsea set to play hard ball, however, this could go right to the wire.
Iliman Ndiaye to Man City
Maresca’s side dramatically hijacked Tottenham’s swoop for Everton star Iliman Ndiaye on Monday.
It is believed Everton had struck an agreement in principle with Spurs for Ndiaye to join for £60million.
But after seemingly missing out on Cody Gakpo, City pivoted to Ndiaye, leaving Spurs’ hopes in tatters.
With Roberto De Zerbi’s side having moved on to Mykhaylo Mudryk, Ndiaye to City feels likely.

Manu Kone, Lamine Camara & Alex Scott to Chelsea
Now, Chelsea are preparing themselves for the departure of Fernandez.
They have contacted several targets to bolster their midfield, including France star Manu Kone.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea have contacted Kone’s camp to sound out a move from Roma, although there’s been no official bid yet.
Talks with Monaco ace Lamine Camara have reportedly stalled, according to Onze Mondial.
A deal was discussed, but Chelsea have since cooled their interest. But, that could all change.
Alex Scott of Bournemouth looks like a no-goer, though.
The Cherries’ sporting director Thiago Pinto said the playmaker won’t be sold, even though he will enter the final year of his contract in 2027.
Who knows? A monster bid might change that.

Cody Gakpo to Man City or Spurs
Gakpo had looked likely to leave Liverpool all summer, with both Man City and Tottenham heavily linked.
The Dutch winger even agreed personal terms with the former, but Liverpool are reluctant to sanction an £85million deal until they’ve found a replacement.
They completed their huge £123m deal for PSG superstar Bradley Barcola on Monday – but that deal is viewed as separate to Gakpo’s situation.
And, finding someone to fill his shoes in such a short time does look tricky.
Spurs thought they had Gakpo in the bag, until City hijacked their move. Maybe they’ll still have hope, if City switch their attentions to someone else and Liverpool feel the offer is too good to refuse.

Which leads us to Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr.
Liverpool see the Senegalese star as the perfect Gakpo replacement, and have reportedly bid around £50million for his services.
That’s not enough for the Eagles, though, who are holding out for £75million, say reports.
The Reds have also had bids for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh rejected too.
The Seagulls want over £60million for the Gambian.

Folarin Balogun to Everton
It had appeared that Richarlison was set for a homecoming to the Toffees.
But following an explosive Instagram post on Monday night, it appears that the Brazilian will be remaining at Spurs after all.
Now, in a twist to that saga, Everton are said to have sent a £40m bid to Monaco for former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.
With a deal for Richarlison seemingly haven fallen through, Balogun is set to be David Moyes’ new man up top.

Jack Grealish to Everton
Finally, the future of Jack Grealish, the Premier League’s former poster boy, who really needs the Everton move to come through to kick-start his career.
The latest from The Athletic is that Grealish is set for a medical at Everton after the Toffees met City’s demands.
This would offset the departure of Ndiaye, with Grealish slotting in on the left-side.
Jattvibederland are also attentive to a potential deal, and could offer the former Aston Villa star a permanent contract – but Everton appear to have won the race.
