COURAGEOUS The Office star Lucy Davis has thanked fans for their support since she revealed her heartbreaking diagnosis of incurable breast cancer.

The actress, 53, has opened up online after telling fans it was too late for chemo earlier this week.

Lucy, who played Dawn Tinsley in the BBC sitcom, wrote: “The last two days have been utterly overwhelming, in that I had zero idea my cancer post would have the attention it did.

“Truly, I am in shock. That said…. thank you to everyone for the tremendous amount of kindness and support you have sent me.

“Good grief it was emotional!

“I am trying to go thru all the comments on my post – and I’ll get there! Just give me a bit of time.”

Lucy shared on Tuesday how she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer 18 months ago and the disease had now metastasised to her bones.

But, she told fans facing the devastating news with humour was “vital”.

Continuing in that vein in the online post last night, Lucy added: “To the couple of people who slightly misread the news and commented R.I.P., you’ll be delighted to know I am still alive – hurrah!”

She shared a fun video of her laughing as she learnt to ride a skate board.

Lucy said: “To lighten things up, here’s a video of my first (and last) skate boarding lesson.

“It was a few years ago but still something that cracks me up when I realised I have no sporting ability whatsoever.”

The daughter of comedy legend Jasper Carrot has fought ill health for years, including needing a kidney transplant in 1997 then suffering kidney failure in 2005 before making a full recovery.

Lucy married actor Owain Yeoman, 48, in 2006 but they split in 2011.

Her big break in The Office came in 2001, and millions saw the final episode in 2003 where Dawn finally kisses Tim, played by Martin Freeman.
