Rice has struggled with a hamstring issue since Christmas, but he is still expected to face Norway in Miami.
Centre-back Guehi is also suffering from muscle fatigue but he, too, looks certain to line up alongside Ezri Konsa.
Yet right-back James has missed the last three games with a hamstring problem and is in a race against time to be fit.
With Jarell Quansah suspended after his sending off in the 3-2 win over Mexico, Djed Spence looks set to start at right-back.
