Tom Kerridge, 52, has been charging £27.50 for a patty served at his posh pub The Coach, in Buckinghamshire.

The TV cook has faced backlash for serving the beefburger without a bottom bun, meaning diners aren’t able to eat it with their hands.

Instead, foodies have been forced to tuck into the meal using a knife and fork.

There have also been complaints that, considering the price, the burger is too tall, making it difficult to eat.

Tom, who launched The Coach Burger with Soy & Sesame Chicken, Asian Slaw and Smoked Cheddar at the gastro pub, knew it would be divisive.

He said: “New burger on the block at The Coach.

“Some haters will hate, but everyone is loving the new flavours within this dish.”

A chef, Luke Southwood, shared his disapproval: “The ‘secret’ to a good burger is making it a burger.’

Carl Johnson said: “Petition to make burgers wider and not taller.”

Another ranted: “Not a burger. How the hell do you pick that up and eat it? “Make burgers wider, not taller.”

One said: “I need a bank loan to pay for it.”

However, others have shared their support for the divisive meal.

Karen Earley said: “Had this on Monday, it was amazing.”

Kerridge, who has appeared on shows like MasterChef and Saturday Kitchen, owns six pubs and restaurants.

The eateries across the south east and in London have three Michelin stars.

This outrage comes after he was widely criticised for charging £37 for fish and chips at his Harrods restaurant last year.
