But there will be something physical on the line as Ring Magazine have unveiled the ‘Fight of Britain’ belt.

They say it will be ‘100 per cent gold’, and pictures show a red, white and blue strap embellished with Union Jacks and lashings of of precious metal.

The prospect of posing for the cameras with it draped over a shoulder may be a small sweeter for the two fighters.

But the biggest incentives heading into this showdown are intangible.

For more than a decade, Fury and Joshua have each been staking their own claim to be the best British heavyweight of their generation.

And only now, with both fighters in their mid-to-late-thirties, will fans finally get their answer.

This battle of Britain is expected to smash the Wembley gate record when tickets go on sale.

But there is a lingering risk that it may not happen at all.

Fury won his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, and AJ must do the same against Kristian Prenga in July.

The Albanian has won 20 of his 21 fights – all inside the distance – and promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have both admitted that the Fury scrap will not happen if Joshua loses.
