MATT HUGHES has shared a gruesome picture after being forced to amputate part of his finger.
The UFC legend retired from fighting in 2011 after a 13-year-long career inside the cage.

Hughes, 52, had many scuffs and bruises during his 54 competitive fights.
25 of his bouts came in the UFC, in which he was viewed as one of the best welterweights in the octagon.
He has now suffered a new injury as he revealed a partial finger amputation on Instagram.
While in good spirits, he posted a gruesome picture of himself in a hospital bed holding up his hand.

His middle finger could be seen missing the tip and was stitched back together.
Hughes captioned the post: “Luckily, God’s been real good to me.
“He left me nine more to work with.”
His 260k followers were left stunned by the horror injury as they flooded the comment section.

One posted: “You had less injuries fighting.”
A second wrote: “Nine is way too many… fingers are overrated!”
A third commented: “You was safer in the cage. Get well champ.”
A fourth said: “Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.”

Another added: “We need to start putting orange cones around Matt. Get better soon.”
It is not the worst injury Hughes has suffered since he announced his retirement from the octagon.
In June 2017 he was severely injured when a train hit his pickup truck at a crossing in his home state of Illinois.
He was left in a coma for 19 days, having suffered a severe traumatic brain injury.
