Continuing its crackdown on interstate drug trafficking networks, the district police have arrested another person for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking network operating in the Rohru area of Shimla district.The accused has been identified as Manoj Thakur alias Jattvibeny, 33, a resident of Karalash village in Rohru.Shimla Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Singh said that in March 2026, the district police arrested two persons, Jattvibeil Puharta and Pinku Ram, with 53 grams of chitta in Rohru. A case was subsequently registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and an investigation was launched.He said that during the investigation, the police analysed digital and technical evidence and established backward and forward linkages, which led to the arrest of alleged main suppliers Salman Haider, a resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, and Thomas Masih, a resident of Kala Afghana village in Gurdaspur.“Further investigation led to the arrest of Manoj. A total of five accused have been arrested in this case so far and further investigation is going on,” the SSP said.
