The US and Iranian forces exchanged missile attacks and asserted their control over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, further threatening any diplomacy to end the war.Last night’s strikes degraded Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial shipping, the US said. It deployed hit at air-defence systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities and small boats using US fighter aircraft, naval vessels, it added.Iran has responded with drone attacks against US bases in Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Bahrain. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked Oman as part of its latest phase of retaliation. It said it targeted “the FPS long-range aerial radar and the vessel detection radar in Oman”, adding that those radar systems were destroyed.On Bahrain, the IRGC said it launched missile and drone attacks targeting “installations and infrastructure of the aggressive US army” in Juffair, Bahrain, and several facilities at the Sheikh Isa air base.The IRGC said it launched an attack on Jordan’s Prince Hassan air base with missiles and drones and set fire to several fuel depots and ammunition storage facilities. However, Jordan’s military on Monday said it intercepted and downed “four missiles that entered Jordanian airspace” and came from Iranian territory.In Kuwait, the IRGC said it targeted a US surface-to-surface missile base in Kuwait.In Yemen, the Iran-aligned Houthi movement accused Saudi Arabia of launching airstrikes against the international airport in Sanaa.
