Following the survey ordered by the Chief Minister, authorities identified 717 shops falling within the restricted 500-metre radius. These include:• 276 shops near places of worship• 186 shops near educational institutions• 255 shops near bus standsThe move comes amid growing demands from various political parties and public groups seeking the closure of TASMAC outlets in residential and public areas.TASMAC has also been under scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate, which last year conducted raids in connection with alleged offences linked to the corporation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).Meanwhile, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) had also promised a drug-free Tamil Nadu in its election manifesto. With ANI inputs
