The death toll in the Vrindavan boat tragedy has gone up to 15 after two more bodies were found in the Yamuna on Monday.Most of the victims are from Ludhiana city and Jagraon. The bodies have been brought back to their hometowns and the cremation of 14 victims has already been performed.Those who died include Chandan Behal (59) and her husband Charanjit Behal (63) of Jagraon; Kavita Behal (52) and her son Madhur Behal (27); Ishan Kataria (26); Rishabh Sharma (19); Rakesh Gulati (64) and his wife Anju Gulati (62) of Phase-2, Dugri; Meenu Bansal (54) and her daughter Dinky Bansal (21); Yuvraj and Yash Bhalla (22) of Jassian Road, Ludhiana; and Monica of Ludhiana. Among others were Sapna Hans (54) from Moga, Asha Rani from Hisar and Manik (25) from Abohar.Yash BhallaThe bodies of Yash Bhalla and Monica were found on Monday. Pankaj Malhotra (33) of Jalalabad remains missing. The only son of his parents, he is married and has two children. His family has been camping in Vrindavan since the day of the incident.The accident occurred on April 9 when a boat carrying pilgrims capsized after hitting a pontoon bridge near Keshi Ghat, about 2 km from the Shri Banke Bihari Temple.A group of 130 pilgrims from Ludhiana had travelled to Vrindavan in two buses. The following day, 38 of them boarded the boat when the mishap occurred.Videos recorded before the incident show devotees chanting “Radhe, Radhe” during the ride.Yash Bhalla, a 22-year-old from Ludhiana visiting Vrindavan for the first time, was among those who died. His family said he had been excited about the trip for a month and had promised to take them along next time.
