MILLIONS of Brits could miss out on a £150 winter energy payout unless they take one simple step before an August deadline.
Households on means-tested benefits must ensure the billpayer’s name matches the one on their energy account by Saturday August 23.
This is to automatically qualify for the Warm Home Discount, which is set to help around six million households across Britain this winter.
The scheme includes around 250,000 households in Scotland who will receive the discount automatically for the very first time.

People could be missing from their bill if they have recently moved house or switched supplier.
Those using pre-payment meters with a key or card must also check their account is registered correctly to avoid missing out.

Energy suppliers will use customers’ records as they stand on the deadline date to determine who is eligible.
The support follows last year’s expansion of the scheme, which saw nearly a million more families with children receive the £150 boost.
In England and Wales, those receiving Housing Benefit, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit or Universal Credit are among those eligible.
Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh said: “Families will be worried about their energy bills this winter and our focus is on giving them breathing space, as we continue to work to bring down bills.”
She added: “If you know someone who might benefit, please start spreading the word and encourage them to check they are named on their energy bill.”
The Warm Home Discount has now been extended right through to 2030, meaning eligible households can count on the support for years to come.
