A win over Panama would secure them top spot, while a draw would only secure them top spot if Ghana vs Croatia also ends in a draw.

The extended tournament does mean England will have to go through an extra knockout round if they are to finally win another World Cup.

When will England find out their World Cup round of 32 opponents?

England are set to face one of the best third-placed sides from Group E, H, I, J or K.

As a result, the Three Lions will not find out their opponents until the end of play on June 28.

The final games of the group stage come from Group J and kick-off at 3am BST.

Ahead of the Panama game, England could face Ecuador, DR Congo, Senegal, Algeria or Austria in the Round of 32 if the Three Lions top the group.

That clash will take place on Wednesday, July 1 at 5pm BST.

If they finish as runners-up in Group L, they will face either Portugal or Colombia on Friday, July 3 at midnight.
