MANCHESTER UNITED could have a secret weapon that might tip the transfer race for Alex Scott in their favour.

Bournemouth star Scott, 23, rejected a new contract with the Cherries after entering the final two years of his deal with the club.

United are among the clubs who want to add the £80million-rated midfielder to their ranks, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham also in the chase.

It is understood the Blues submitted a £64million offer for Scott, but saw it rejected as Bournemouth told the London side in no uncertain terms they wanted to keep their star central midfielder.

Arsenal also saw an approach rebuffed in June.

The Red Devils can offer Champions League football and therefore a host of minutes to the former Bristol City star in their revamped engine room.

However, the ace up their sleeve to convince Scott to head to Old Trafford could be sourced from their women’s team.

The captain of Man Utd Women is Lionesses star Maya Le Tissier, who is Scott’s step-sister.

Le Tissier, 24, and England Under-21 star Scott – who was involved with Thomas Tuchel‘s team during last November’s international camp and the World Cup pre-camp team, but is yet to make his senior debut – both come from the Channel Island of Guernsey.

She has spoken glowingly about her relationship with Scott, whom she has known since they were children and even travelled and trained together, including playing football in their hotel room.

Le Tissier, a 2024 FA Cup winner with United and a 2025 European champion with England, told the BBC in November last year: “I’m so proud, we’ve been on the journey together so we’ve seen the challenges that we’ve faced but also how exciting both of our careers have been.

“He’s done so well to get where he is and he’s had a lot of ups and downs too, so it’s nice to see him at the top.”

Scott shared similar feelings of pride towards the defender after she became the first England player – female or male – from Guernsey to be selected to represent the national team at a major tournament.

She continued: “We played on the same team back at St Martin’s and then back home in Guernsey.

“When I was younger we’d fly across to England every couple of weeks…

“It was a tough challenge (becoming pro footballers from Guernsey), but that’s what makes us a bit different.

“When you’re from Guernsey, you have to do it a bit differently, but we’ve never shied away from a challenge.”

And United transfer chiefs will be hoping the 2024 Young Player of the Year can convince Scott to reunite up at Carrington.

Ineos, who took control of football operations from the Glazer family when they completed their minority takeover of the club in 2024, have already added Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to their midfield.

Santos was signed for £50m from Chelsea while United triggered the £35m release clause for Tielemans to prise him away from Aston Villa after missing out on other targets Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali all went for crazy fees.
