The Congress on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing the country’s students after he announced fast-track courts for cases related to examination paper leaks, saying the Centre had allowed the education system to collapse while protecting those responsible.The party’s response came after Modi said the government had decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure the speedy trial and punishment of those involved in examination paper leaks.Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said it was the Prime Minister who had caused the greatest damage to the future of the country’s youth.”You are the one who has harmed the future of our youth the most. You allowed and encouraged the total capture and destruction of our education system and protected every person responsible for it,” Gandhi said.He reiterated the Congress’ demands that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan be removed, the government apologise to students and action be taken against those who allegedly assaulted student protesters.Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the Prime Minister had once again avoided speaking on the issue in Parliament.He said Modi lacked the courage to address Parliament and engage in a serious debate, unlike his predecessors when the situation demanded it.Ramesh claimed the Prime Minister’s social media post showed that he was “shaken and rattled” by the issues being raised by students across the country rather than genuinely concerned about them.Continuing the party’s attack, Ramesh alleged that the list of irregularities under the BJP-led government had kept growing, referring to what the Congress has described as “Vote Chori, Seat Chori, Chanda Chori and Exam Paper Chori”.
