Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday extended greetings to members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on its Foundation Day, emphasising the importance of young people in shaping India’s future and calling for their voices, aspirations and concerns to remain at the centre of the country’s political discourse.Gandhi described India’s youth as the country’s “greatest strength” and highlighted the Indian Youth Congress’ legacy of providing young Indians with a platform to raise their concerns and fight for their rights, dreams and aspirations.He said that at a time when young people are fighting against what he described as a system “rigged against them”, the IYC continues to stand with them.Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also extended his “warmest greetings” to IYC members on the occasion, describing the organisation as a “powerful voice for young India”.Kharge said the Youth Congress has consistently stood up for constitutional values, spoken truth to power and fought against what he termed injustice and hatred.He called on the younger generation to play a greater role in shaping the country’s future, stressing the need to listen to young people and amplify their voices.“As a new generation steps forward to shape India’s future, let us listen to them & amplify young voices, champion their dreams and aspirations, and build an India of greater opportunity, equality and hope,” Kharge said.Both leaders emphasised the need to create greater opportunities for young Indians and ensure that their aspirations are reflected in the country’s future.“The future is young. The future is ours to shape,” Kharge said in his Foundation Day message.
