An Indian Army jawan from Rajasthan’s Bikaner claims to have completed a long-distance cycling feat, travelling from Srinagar to Delhi in record time.Balveer (26), currently posted with the 11 Mechanised Unit of the Indian Army in Kapurthala, said he completed the 859-km journey in 50 hours, 58 minutes and 27 seconds.He said preparations are going on to have the achievement registered with the International Book of Records. “Data recorded through an application would be submitted for verification,” he said.Balveer, a resident of Nokha in Bikaner, began his journey on Friday morning from Lal Chowk in Srinagar and concluded on Saturday at the Red Fort in Delhi.He said that he undertook the feat with support from his crew members Sukh Sagar, Himanshu, Rahul and Rameshwar.”This journey was a test of endurance, discipline and determination. It was a solo trip. I started from Lal Chowk in Srinagar at 6 am on April 24 and reached Delhi on April 26 morning. I covered a total of 859 km during this trip,” he said.Balveer said he halted at a few places for rest and food and traversed both hilly terrain and plains during the journey.”The route had been decided by the International Book of Records and the recorded data would now be submitted for official recognition,” he said.
