District Health Officer Dr Ashish Chawla said the objective of the campaign was to ensure safe, standard-quality food products for consumers and curb the sale of substandard or suspicious items.During the inspection, officials checked multiple shops and establishments dealing in food supplements and nutraceuticals. Two samples — Dietary Supplement (Pre-Workout) and Food Supplement (Anabolic Liver Support) — were collected for testing. In addition, 18 units of Pre-Workout and 21 units of Anabolic Liver Support were seized under legal procedure and placed under the custody of the concerned operators.Further inspections were also carried out in the Gill Road area, where two additional nutraceutical samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for analysis.The team also extended its drive to Machhiwara, collecting samples of ghee and gram flour from dairies and grocery stores. In Samrala, samples of vanaspati and muscle mass gainer were also taken for testing.All samples have been sent to government laboratories for analysis. Authorities said strict legal action will be taken against any product found to be substandard, misbranded, or unsafe under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) norms.Dr Chawla stated that such inspection drives will continue regularly to curb unsafe food practices and protect public health. He added that ensuring clean, safe, and quality food remains the department’s top priority.
