William, who is president of the FA, made his way down the line shaking hands with stars, staff and match officials before kick-off under the famous arch.
But City stopper Trafford decided against taking off his goalkeeper gloves for the royal greeting.
Instead, the England ace apologised with a smile before offering William a quick fist bump instead.
The future king laughed off the moment and happily returned the gesture as Trafford headed out onto the pitch.

City later beat Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a brilliant Antoine Semenyo backheel finish to lift the FA Cup for the eighth time.
That marks Chelsea’s fourth consecutive FA Cup final defeat.
The triumph also sealed a domestic cup double after City had already won the League Cup earlier in the campaign.
It marked yet another landmark in Guardiola’s glittering reign – with the Spaniard leading City to their 20th major trophy and becoming the first side ever to reach four straight FA Cup finals.
