The Delhi Police Special Cell have busted an alleged Pakistan’s ISI-Mumbai underworld-linked module and arrested eight persons, including three from Punjab. Police recovered four live hand grenades and 25 cartridges manufactured by the Pakistan Ordnance Factory, officials said on Friday.The operation began on May 19 with the arrest of Vijay Shooter, whose handler was identified as Naved, based in Pune. Subsequently, Nitish Paswan was apprehended from Sahibganj in Jharkhand.During interrogation, investigators allegedly uncovered plans to carry out attacks in Delhi and Mumbai, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Anil Shukla said at a press conference.Acting on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, Special Cell teams arrested several more suspects. Police identified Yavar Khan as one of the key handlers who had allegedly assembled a team tasked with targeting strategic locations and security personnel using hand grenades, Shukla said.Subsequently, three accused from Punjab were arrested in Chhattarpur, Delhi, leading to the recovery of four live hand grenades, he added.Investigators said reconnaissance had been conducted at several locations. The accused allegedly carried out videography of buildings in Delhi and locations around Mumbai, including the Dadar railway station area.Police also named Munna Jhingada, alias Sayyed Muzakkir Mudassar Hussain, as another handler. He is alleged to be a convicted sharpshooter and a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel. According to investigators, he was tasked with establishing a financial network for the module.Officials said one suspect, identified as Ujafa, remains absconding. The accused allegedly used Instagram and other social media platforms for recruitment, communication and coordination.The probe is on to trace the module’s wider network, financial links and alleged cross-border connections.
