Cristhian Mosquera v Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

It was a huge ask for Cristhian Mosquera to start at right-back, with Jurrien Timber only fit enough for the bench.

Mosquera had an excellent opening 45 minutes, but unravelled after the break and was lucky not to be sent off.

The Spaniard clumsily brought down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a penalty and he was hooked immediately afterwards, having already been booked earlier on for time-wasting.A night to forget.

Declan Rice v Vitinha

Two players that have been tipped as contenders for the Ballon d’Or, and they had very different roles for this battle.

Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Vitinha ran the game and completed more passes than anyone else on the pitch.

But Declan Rice summed up Arsenal’s fighting spirit and put in a tireless shift in the middle of the park when the Gunners would otherwise have been overrun.

Kai Havertz v Marquinhos

The dream start for Kai Havertz was a nightmare one for Marquinhos, whose hashed clearance allowed the German to run clean through and score.

Havertz had a tougher time after that, getting very little joy from referee Daniel Siebert when battling for long balls pumped forward.

The Arsenal striker finished normal time playing as a No10 and just off Viktor Gyokeres after Martin Odegaard was hooked with 24 minutes to go.
