The executive of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has declined to share any information other than that related to the case of 328 ‘saroops’ of Guru Granth Sahib with the Special Investigation Team (SIT).This and many more decisions were taken by the executive during its meeting held at its headquarters — Teja Singh Samundri Hall — on Monday. After chairing the meeting, Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC president, talking to mediapersons said the information sought by the SIT formed by the Punjab Government in the case of 328 ‘saroops’ was being provided as per the orders of Akal Takht.Citing the reference of Akal Takht Officiating Jathedar Kuldip Singh Gargaj’s letter, he said it directed for cooperation only in the case of 328 ‘saroops’.He alleged that the government investigation team was deliberately making false statements to tarnish the image of the Sikh institution, which is not justified in any way. He said the Sikh body was cooperating with complete transparency in this matter and pointed out that any information sought outside this matter would not be given to the SIT.The executive also expressed grief over the burning of a ‘bir’ in Barike village near Jalalabad yesterday and appealed to the devotees to be vigilant.
