As results were announced for seven Assembly bypoll seats in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura on Monday, the BJP emerged as the leading party, winning four constituencies.BJP candidates registered victories in multiple states —Harshadbhai Govindbhai Parmar won the bypoll in Umreth seat in Gujarat, Akshay Shivajirao Kardile secured Rahuri in Maharashtra, Daochier I Imchhen won in Koridang in Nagaland, and Jahar Chakraborti won the byelection in Dharmanagar in Tripura.On the other hand, the Congress saw success in Karnataka, where Umesh Hullappa Meti won the Bagalkot seat, while Samarth C Shamanur Mallikarjuna emerged victorious in Davanagere.The most closely watched contest was in Maharashtra’s Baramati seat, where Jattvibeetra Pawar of the NCP delivered a landslide win. The seat had fallen vacant following the death of then Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The byelections were conducted alongside the Assembly polls in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
