The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will continue to use the on-screen marking (OSM) platform developed by Hyderabad-based Coempt Eduteck Pvt Ltd for the re-evaluation of Class XII examination answer sheets, sources familiar with the matter said.According to sources, Coempt Eduteck will remain responsible for scanning answer sheets and facilitating the re-evaluation process through its OSM system. The decision comes despite concerns and criticism raised in recent weeks regarding the company’s role in the re-evaluation mechanism. The additional safeguards have been introduced to strengthen the security of the platform and protect it against potential data breaches and cyberattacks. Measures have reportedly been implemented to enhance the integrity of the system and ensure the secure handling of examination-related records. At the same time, the CBSE has taken steps to exercise greater control over sensitive examination data. Sources indicated that all answer sheet records and related data have been shifted from Coempt Eduteck’s servers to CBSE-managed servers. The move is aimed at improving data security, increasing institutional oversight, and reducing dependence on external infrastructure for the storage of examination records. The transition of data to CBSE’s own servers is expected to provide the board with enhanced control over access, management, and protection of student records while allowing the existing OSM platform to continue supporting the re-evaluation process. While Coempt Eduteck will continue to provide technical support through its scanning and OSM services, the board’s decision to host answer sheet data on its own servers reflects a stronger focus on cybersecurity and data governance, sources added. The CBSE has not yet issued an official public statement on the matter.
