Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to all voters in the state to participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and get their votes registered, if they want to use their franchise and continue to get the benefit of government welfare schemes including Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. In a video message, Mann, who is currently on a health and wellness retreat in Bangaluru, has said that the SIR is being undertaken by the Election Commission of India. “You only have to fill a form to ensure that your name remains in the voter list. If you don’t fill the form, your name will be deleted. Then you won’t be eligible to get the social security benefits or avail of other government schemes,” he said. The door-to-door survey by the enumerators started on June 25.On Tuesday, Punjab CEO Anindita Mitra had pointed out instances of misbehaviour against the Booth Level Officers by public in Patiala and Barnala districts. She had sought public cooperation on the issue.Mann also congratulated all women of the state, saying his government has fulfilled its pre-election promise to the women by putting money in their bank accounts.
